sorry, another topic concerning encoders

Hi everyone,

If I have already made a buttonbox, this is not a glory as the major part of the job was buying a Leo Bodnar's card !

Now, I would like to go further but a few things need to be cleared befor I start. That's the point I need your help, if you please.

The situation : I have bought a BU0836X joystick controller and it works greatly as I made it, I mean with buttons. But now I would like to include 3 rotatry encoders. I have bought them, plugged them... And broke them.

The purpose :

rotary encoder # 1 and 2 : moving seat up and down + front and back in GTR2,rFactor... (Rotary encoder CTS 288 model 288T232R161A2 ? )
rotary # 3 : tuning brake bias font or rear (Rotary encoder CTS288 model 288V232R161B2 ? the one with push switch to have 1 more button to assign).

Of course, I have found on the 6 pages of the forum few informations (A to A1, B to B1 and groung on center - that's what I didn't do) and download link for the soft. But I must admit that I did not understand the interface very well. Plus, I would like to be sure that I have choosen the right encoder for the right job. Right ?

So if you can help me buying products and understanding the tuning of the soft, it would be great.

Thanks a lot and forgive my English,

So,

More than 200 viewers and no anwser ? Did persons who connected pots to BU0836X with satisfaction stop reading these forums ? I have read once again all the posts and topics concerning pots connexion and found two ways to connect :

1 - a scheme with "data" on the middle pin of the pot,
2 - an older post with ground on the middle pin.

I do not know what to think as no one indicated that one way or another what wrong. The only thing I know is that I have burnt the three new pots I had bought. Plus my BU0836X, this time !

So, either I am noob (not saying more), either I am really unlucky in making this button box I am dreaming of, even if I made my connexions as carefully as I could.

Maybe I finally can have an answer...

First off all - be sure you have the right encoder program for the switches - http://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU083 ... coders.exe

Take the rotary switch, connect gnd to middle pin, and eg. pin 5 and 6 to the outer pins-

5-------
gnd----
6-------

Now start enconder program and chose 1:1 in the 5-6 box..

Hope this helps you
